Presenting my Plum Pudding
Set my plum pud on the table.
Now to light it – if I’m able.
Strike a flame, but nowt will come –
‘cept for pain and one burnt thumb.
Count to three for second go…
no, not even faintest glow.
Why oh why? Have one more try…
set alight poor Grampa’s tie.
Try again – when fire put out…
Any flame on pudding? Nowt.
One more go! Might just catch…
except – that was the final match.

See Amid the Motorway (to be sung)
See amid the winter snow
rows of frozen cars, no-go!
Each of those will need a tow.
Most of them have far to go!
Oh, for global warming true!
Oh, for sun to warm us through!
See amid the winter snow
fridge-locked gridlock fi-as-co!

What’s in a Card?
Nice to hear you,
to hear you nice,
but you’ve sent us
this card twice.
Don’t know how your card
came to find us.
Don’t know who you are.
Please remind us.
Got your news – sorry to hear.
We’ve all had a marvellous year.
Happy Christmas and New Year!
Hoping you’ll reciprocate, dear.
Warm, cosy winter fest!
Don’t forget your thermal vest.
Sending you the usual greetings.
So much easier than meetings.
Our Christmas will just be quiet,
me laid up and Jim on diet.
Have I sent you this before?
Found it in our spare cards drawer.
Sending joy and love and peace,
and apologies for crease.
Sorry for the marks and that –
card got sat on by the cat.
Merry Christmas to Myself!
This card’s going centre-shelf!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
