Hi!
Here’s a little verse for children and their teachers, parents and others, celebrating family, with tips and ideas below for discussion and writing.

FAMILY TIME
Peachy, balmy, cosy, calm,
scented with a rose’s charm,
gentle, playful, friendly, fond,
humming with our happy bond.

DISCUSSION & WRITING IDEAS
Ask children what good family times they can think of, be it with one other family member (sibling, parent, step-parent, grandparent, aunty?), a few, all the family household, or a big get-together of relatives. What was fun? What made you feel warm, happy, safe, good inside?
In the poem, identify soft, gentle, sweet or comforting words, perhaps discussing what’s pleasing about them and how they make the children feel. Do any rhyme? Maybe explain that rhyme can add fun, rhythm and strength to a poem, but isn’t essential. Think up some other inviting words together, including a rhyme or two perhaps, for a second verse.
Lots more poems and spurs for discussion and writing on my many other posts here (see Archives).
PLUS – Family life also features in my new book, Squeak! Squawk! Roar! Amazing Animal Poems .
