FIREWORK POETRY!

Here are two poems to read, discuss, adapt, enact, paint, or take a line of to use as a poetry-writing blast-off point:
SNAP CRACKLE! Chorus: voice the sounds in bold italics:
Streaking through the twilight
Snap! Crackle!
Everybody cheering
Pop!
Colour-burst flowers
Snap! Crackle!
Lighting up the dark sky
Pop!
Hot dogs steaming
Toffee apples gleaming
Gold stars streaming
Pop!
Bed time looming
Last blast booming
Snap!
Crackle!
STOP!

Children are thrilled and fascinated by fireworks, but writing about them can be less thrilling when they’re not sure how to start. It can be hard for teachers and parents too, to think how to help them put pen to paper, so I’ve done a couple of YouTube demos with ideas and tips, in case handy:

And you know how I like to shout out about my upcoming book, Squeak! Squawk! Roar!? Well, here’s another shout!
Available to pre-Snap now!

Sorry, but I really have to raise my voice with all these roaring, squawking, barking, howling, snapping, yapping animals to compete with! 🦁🦜🐘🐕🐊
